Pediatric Care

Dental care is extremely important for everyone, especially children. Dental caries, or decay, is the most undiagnosed disease affecting the population. Many times the decay process begins in younger people. Often, these cavities go undetected in children until the child complains of pain. No parent wants their child to experience unnecessary and often times excruciating pain. We strive to educate children at an early age and treat if necessary. We do so in a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Our goal is to remove the fear of coming to the dentist for children. We usually begin seeing children when they are about 2 years of age. We do our best to acclimate the child to the office, instruments as well as staff members. Once we remove the negative perception of visiting the dentist, it often makes for a much more pleasant and impressionable experience for the child. This also allows for smoother, subsequent visits.

Procedure

We will take digital x-rays of the child when possible. We will clean their teeth and apply a fluoride varnish. We are advocates on fluoride application because of the benefits that fluoride provides. Fluoride helps to prevent enamel from breaking down. This aids in the prevention of cavities. If any treatment is warranted, we will discuss this with the parent and proceed with treatment as necessary.
